Working with Hastings Community of Sanctuary, artist Fatima Elaysi and designer Toya Walker, we developed a series of workshops in which residents with lived experience of migration and seeking sanctuary and refuge in the UK came together to create a welcome banner for Hastings Library. Through text, objects, printmaking and photography participants explored what welcome means to them, incorporating different languages and images into the final work. The banner is now on display in Hastings Library.
